We took a tour of Rothenburg in the morning that was included in the cruise. our guide Karl was very good and gave us the highlights of the town
Rothenburg ob der Tauber meand Rothenburg on the Tauber which is a river. It has many well preserved medieval historical buildings and architectural landmarks.
City Walls: The city walls and towers offer a historical perspective and allow visitors to explore the medieval defenses. You are also able to walk up on the top walkways which we did during our free time.

Townhall is especially interesting as it has 2 parts, one part of the building is Midieval and one part gothic, we went through the underside of townhall and out the gates of the city.

After the tour we walked on the top of the city walls

We walked back to the square and had a famous Rothenburg delicacy called a snowball that sort of tasted like chinese fried noodles that you get with your chinese food, but also with powdered sugar. They were very dry, which Karl had warned us about.

We took the bus back to the boat and had some lunch while the boat moved to Volkach. We then took a bike ride with a group of people and the adventure host Sabina through the vineyards surrounding Volkach. After a long hilly bike ride we ended up in the town of Volkach where others from the boat had taken a walking tour and we had a quick soda and water and a pastry.
