Travel day to Panama 2/9/2026

Today we traveled from Philadelphia, through Miami to Panama. We stayed at the airport in PHL because our flight was at 5 AM.

Our flight was on time and pretty uneventful although despite them telling us to be at the airport 2 hours early, neither the AA counter or Security were open when we arrived.

We had a beautiful sunrise view on the flight.

Once in Miami we had about 2 hours to wait for our next flight so we sat in the Admirals club there. There's always good people watching in Miami.

As we approached Panama City we could see lots of boats waiting for their turn to get into the Panama Canal

We went through passport control, which was very efficient. Claimed our bags which all arrived in good shape, and sailed through customs very quickly.

Just outside of the customs door we were met by representatives from Windstar who loaded us into a van with one other couple, and quickly delivered us to our hotel, The Bristol in Panama City. We had some coffee and waited about an hour for our room to be ready.

After a quick rest in our room we headed down to the bar just before dinner because the hotel is known for its craft cocktails. It was fun watching them prepare a wide variety of beautiful drinks. We had dinner at the hotel restaurant which had a large screen set up and were broadcasting the Super Bowl from ESPN deportes.

Tomorrow we will board our ship, the Windstar Pride.
