Today we are heading off on our trip. We will start things off with a bang, taking the longest flight in the world (as of this date, there will be a new longest flight coming soon) we are traveling from JFK to Singapore’s Chanji airport, 18 hours and 40 minutes. From there we have a layover and then another short flight to Bangkok Thailand where we will spend a few days before we board our cruise ship. This was not our original plan. We were supposed to fly to Dubai, spend a few days, and then continue on to Thailand which would have broken up the flight time but with the war in the Middle East, we had to change our flights.
We hired a car to get to JFK and traffic was terrible but we had planned for lots of buffer so we arrived at 6 PM. We were able to check in and hand off our bags and then head to the Capital One lounge which Singapore passengers are allowed to use.

We found comfy seats by the bar and ordered some tasty snacks from the complimentary hot menu. I got a slider and Conrad a mini pot pie. Both were good. We then settled in to wait for our flight which leaves at 10:16
The Capital One lounge is really nice, large, not crowded and loads of food choices. You can even go sit in a special area and do wine and cheese tasting for 45 minutes.
We boarded our flight at 10:15 PM. The seats were very wide and great for sitting, but the footwell for the lay flat bed was off center and very narrow. It was fine for me but Conrad didn’t fit laying down so he didn’t get much sleep.
We were fed 2 dinners in the first 8 hours but then just small snacks available for the last 10 hours which was odd. The food was very good.

We made it to Singapore Airport at 4:30 AM on 4/29 Singapore time, 4:30 PM on 4/28 New York time. The flight wasn’t as bad as we had feared. We have a 3 hour layover in Singapore and then another 3 hour flight to Bangkok where our cruise starts.
