Rio Day 2 - 1/8/2025

We started the day in the Gold lounge for breakfast and it was lovely. They had many different fresh fruits, interesting pastries and cooked eggs of several varieties. We were offered the “gold upgrade” for a nominal fee a week ago and decided to take it and it was a great decision. The lounge is quiet and has a great view of the beach and they serve a buffet breakfast and a happy hour each day. The happy hour is enough for us for dinner and the space is quiet and peaceful. The staff are fantastic as well.

We've noticed large flocks of Frigate Birds from the hotel, a bird that is very rare near us an is also usually seen as a single or a couple of birds, Working on my moving birds skills with my camera I got a few pictures of them in flight from our balcony.

We went and took a walk along the famous black and white paved walkway along Copacabana beach. We had heard that there were lots of pick pockets and people aggressively trying to sell you things but we didn’t feel unsafe. There was a large military and police presence keeping an eye on things.

With no set plans for the day we decided to sit by the pool at the hotel.

The weather is better today although a rain shower can break out at almost any time.

After a nap, because we are on vacation, we hit our favorite happy hour in place of dinner

And then we went up to the bar/pool area for a glass of wine and live music with a view.

Tomorrow we have an all day tour before we leave for Buenos Aires on Friday.
