Today we are taking our annual trip to the New England area to visit Cody for his birthday. We usually choose a place where we can stay and do some outdoor activities and just spent a nice casual weekend with Cody and Kasey. We don’t see them often so it’s nice to just have some time with them. This year we chose the Blue Shutters Inn and Studios which is in Ogunquit, steps from Marginal Way, a beautiful sea side walking path that stretches along the coast. We are also walking distance to downtown. We stayed at the cliff house in Ogunquit several years ago which was beautiful but not as centrally located.
We headed to the PHL airport for our flight. We tried a second time to go to the new Admirals club in terminal A but the food choices were very limited so we headed over to the Centurion lounge, where the food is great but the seating is limited. First world problems for sure.
Our flight was uneventful, and we arrived early. Getting a rental car in Boston is always eventful but we managed to get a car and get safely out of Boston. We decided to stop in Portsmouth NH for lunch at Old Ferry Landing.

We were able to get a seat outdoors on this gorgeous day. At 3 in the afternoon people were still pouring in for lunch with something of a happy hour crowd as well.
We had fried scallops and a burger, both were excellent.

We also ran into the head of maintenance for Radnor high school on the deck at lunch. His friend had a raiders lacrosse T-shirt on and I just had to ask.
We got a picture of Pop Pop with the fireboats for Baylor and then got back on the road towards Ogunquit.

We arrived in Ogunquit around 4 PM to our hotel, the Blue Shutters inn and Studios. We reserved 2 studios, one for us and one for Cody. The rooms were clean and well equipped. The front desk staff was great, they personally showed us to the rooms and had a cake for Cody’s birthday already in his room. We went out to the grocery store for a few things and then took a walk on Marginal Way. It was as beautiful as we remembered.

We then headed back to the hotel. They have a nice fire pit near the building where we were staying so we went and sat out by the fire pit and had a glass of wine. There was another couple there about our age and we enjoyed talking to them.

Cody and Kasey will arrive around 10 but we won’t see them until morning.
