Naples and the Amalfi Coast – Sunday June 4 2023

 Today we docked in Naples and drove to Sorrento first which was a beautiful drive along the coast. 

As we drove we saw lots of soccer posters and blue and white ribbons everywhere. the closer we got to Sorrento the more ribbons we saw. It turned out the the Napoli Soccer team had one the Italian league. The last game of the season is tonight but they are already mathematically the champions. The party apparently began weeks ago before they had clinched the title and they said that it would go on for the rest of the summer.

Once we arrived in Sorrento we had some free time to walk around the town. We took some pictures of the soccer streamers and flags and then went to get some pictures of the coast.

We walked down a narrow set of stairs to a street that overlooked the coast for some pictures. 

We saw a hotel with a cafe overlooking the coast so we walked to the hotel and sat at the cafe for coffee and pastries. We took some more pictures there before walking back into town to meet our group.

We walked back to the center of town where we met our group for a nice Italian lunch of pasta and then meat and vegetables. We had a little bit of time left so we want to get a hat of the soccer team from Naples before walking back to the bus. From Sorrento we headed towards Salerno where we would get a boat to cruise the Amalfi Coast to the town of Amalfi. on the way to Salerno we ran into a car fire on the highway and had to wait on the road for about an hour but we finally made it and boarded the boat.

Once we docked in Amalfi we had a little bit of time to walk around. We looked at the church but it was sooo crowded that we decided to go sit in a little sea side cafe for the time that we had.

We got back on the boat and headed back to Salerno to join our bus and head back to the ship. Tomorrow we will see Lalla and Rino in Taormina.
