Kruger to Karongwe - 5/29/2026

Today we drove from Kruger to Karongwe to do additional game drives. We checked into our "tents" which were elevated on platforms, and had wooden floors, full bathrooms, a nice porch and a sizeable bedroom. You really couldn't have asked for more.

We had our first game drive that first evening which was pretty disappointing and we were concerned that Karongwe was going to be a disappointment but there were much better drives to come there. We drove with a guide and a driver injeeps that held 7 or 8. There were several hotels and camps inside of Karongwe and many miles of reserve that were criss corssed with dirt roads and had watering holes sprinkled around.

Eventually we stopped at awatering hold and had some wine and snacks as we watched the sun set while Hippos swan and chattered in the distance
