Today we left our hotel in Panama City and traveled by bus to Colon Panama to board our ship. We had a nice breakfast at the hotel, and then had to wait until 11:00 to have our luggage loaded onto a truck to take to the ship which was docked in Colon. We then waited until 12:30 to get our bus to Colon. We arrived and passed through a very brief customs process, then boarded the ship which was docked in a busy industrial port. The registration process on thei ship was quick and efficient.

Here's our room which is an Owners Suite on deck 6 with a very nice wrap around balcony which is at the very front of hte ship and wraps around to the right side of the ship.

We spent the rest of the day docked in the port, and our balcony faced the port where ships were being unloaded and loaded which Conrad found very interesting.

We also had our emergency drill, made reservations for some of the specialty restaurants on board, and wandered around the ship getting used to where things were. We had dinner in the main dining room and had a very nice waiter named Fadli who we hope to be able to get every night. Windstar has open seating so you just walk in whenever you want and they will seat you at any available table that you request. The food was very good, Conrad had a nice pasta and I had steak. The wine that was served with dinner was also very good. We headed back to the room to sit on the balcony. We won't leave port tonight because we aren't cleared to go into the canal until morning and it doesn't make much sense to leave and sit out in the water. The entrance to the canal is quite nearby,. We also met our cabin attendant whose name is Sunee. Tomorrow we will transit the canal.
