Today we traveled to Cologne Germany. The morning was sailing on canals leading to the Rhine river and then the afternoon was spent in Cologne, first on a guided bike ride and then just on our own seeing the Cathedral.

Sailing on the canals led us by a series of little picturesque towns and going under bridges and through locks. It was a relaxing morning.

Once we docked in Cologne we waited for the Adventure host to get the bikes off the ship and ready for us. The waterfront was very crowded with locals and tourists enjoying the gorgeous day. We got our bikes fitted and got our helmets on and carefully rode out of the city center on our bikes. The further we got from the city center the easier it got. We got out on some more rural roads with a group of8, after losing 2 of the original riders who turned around at the city center, it was just too hard for some folks to navigate. We rode through some more rural areas and ended up at a natural botanical garden where we took a short walk through the gardens.

We rode back into town which seemed even an easier rise but the city center was still quite busy. We left out bikes outside of the ship and headed over to the Cathedral to get some photos and light a candle.

We re-boarded the ship and had dinner. After dinner we went up to the upper open deck with a glass of wine and waited for some rumored fireworks. We stayed for quite a while on a beautiful warm night but eventually gave up and went back to our rooms. About 10 minutes later the fireworks started and we could see them from the stateroom so it was fine.
