We had breakfast and then checked out of the lovely Oberoi Amarvilles hotel. The Oberoi brand was exceptional. They have their own hospitality school and set the standard for service in India. They have a high turnover because other hotels poach their staff to learn more about what they do. We really enjoyed the 2 properties that we stayed at and would stay again in a heartbeat.
We took the 4 hour drive back to the Delhi airport and got through security and to our gate in plenty of time. Conrad has asked Regent to try to get him an extra leg room seat when we booked this overland portion of the trip, and we were assigned an exit row on both flights.
Once we landed in Mumbai we took the 45 minute bus ride back to the ship, where wearrived at about 7:00 and needed to have our bags out for pick up by 10 PM to depart the ship for the final time in the morning. We ordered room service so that we could eat as we packed since we had to fly to Singapore in the morning and needed to make sure that our bags were packed to fly. Our butler Alwyn delivered the food which gave us an opportunity to say goodbye one last time and thank him for all of his help. He had been able to see his family while the ship was in Mumbai, and his daughter was happy to see her dad. He leaves the ship after one more cruise to return home for the birth of his next child. We also said goodbye to Fiona and Gede our room attendants. We needed one final India Arrival card in order to leave the ship in the morning into the Mumbai port, as well as a Singapore Arrival card for when we landed in Singapore so we did those and printed them on the ships printer. India's process wasby far the worst. We had obtained a Visa before we arrived, we had an arrival card for our stop in Kochin. We had Indian officials on board for almost a week where they conducted in person interviews of each staff member and guest including finger printing and passport stamping, we also had a second passport check as we left the ship in our first port, Kochin and then despite never leaving India we needed another arrival card and to pass through immigration again when we departed the ship. The officials never looked atthe arrival cards at any checkpoint and customs was just asign that we walked by.
We headed to bed in order to be ready to leave the ship at 8 AM tomorrow.
