We started the morning of Saturday 8/2 the Alaska Railway headed from Anchorage to Seward to see the Kenai Fjords national park.

The train ride was about 4 hours but was not moving very quickly. We saw beautiful mountains and glaciers coming down from the mountains. Here are a few pictures.

Once we arrived in Seward we took a shuttle to the Harbor to board the Aialik which was a catamaran from Kenai Fjords tours. On the way we saw this eagle sitting in a tree.

It was rainy in Seward and the waters were very rough. At time the boat ride felt like a roller coaster, but when we were in the bays it was nice and calm. We saw some harbor seals along the rocks

Next we rode to an area called three holes where the water has carved holes through the rocks and three large rock arches are left in the water

After we left three hole, we saw 2 Orca whales swimming in the water.

We reached the farthest point of the journey – the Aialik Glacier which is a huge glacier that calves ice off into the water. The glacier is so blue because all of the oxygen is compressed out the ice.

After we left the glacier we saw some sea others in the water. This guy was very relaxed.

Here is some of the scenery including a boat the same size as ours

We had been looking forward to seeing puffins all day and we were not disappointed. We saw a horned puffin

And a tufted puffin

Finally we saw some sea lions hanging out on the rocks

Once the boat ride was over we grabbed some sandwiches from the Bakery cafe in Seward and hopped on a bus for the ride back to Anchorage. I was a 2.5 hour ride, Mom and I slept the whole way and Conrad and Cody stayed awake. We arrived back in Anchorage at 9:30 and it was still light out. We headed to the hotel for a good sleep and an early wake up call for the trip to Denali in the morning.
