We arrived in Acadia in the late afternoon of Wednesday August 1. We checked into our hotel which was a very nice Best Western in the park but a distance from downtown Bar Harbor. The hotel was quite nice and we decided to drive into town for a quick look before heading to bed after a long day of travel.

The harbor was filled with anchored boats and was quite pretty. We found a small parking lot near the center of town and walked along the water checking out the bay and the restaurant where we would have dinner the following night.

We watched the sun set along the harbor and it was a really beautiful area. There was a hotel on the water that looked really nice, and we took note of it in case we might return.

The Reading Room restaurant

The Reading Room restaurant with the yellow umbrellas and the big bay windows above was right on the water with a gorgeous view, we were definitely looking forward to our dinner the following evening.

Downtown Bar Harbor

We strolled through town looking for souvenirs for the kids. There were lots of funny T-Shirts for sale and we purchased one for everyone. We wanted one that was a play on the Pink Floyd Album cover with the prism and the rainbow – this one says Dark Side of the Moose – but they didn’t have any in the sizes we were looking for so we chose other things. We also grabbed some ice cream and headed back to the car, it had been a long day and we wanted to get an early start tomorrow.
