We arrived at the Catania Airport after about 14 hours of travel. We had to claim our bags in Rome, and go through customs, which was a hallway where there were no agents or really anyone checking anything. We then went to a different terminal and checked in for our flight from Rome to Catania, which was also pretty easy. When we arrived in Catania, Rino was waiting to take us to Messina and the beach house in Mortelle where they live in the summer. It is a beautiful house built on the side of a hill overlooking the Mediterranean Sea.

Here are the gardens of the house and the views.

We went to the water to take some pictures, and then we had a feast at a little restaurant by the sea. We had Swordfish and pasta and Calamari and the best bread I’ve ever tasted. There are also Mussel Ponds near the town where the mussels are not grown but they are brought there and live there before being harvested and eaten. It was a fantastic dinner.
