We are leaving Rome this morning. Before we head off some impressions of our stay. We enjoyed Vatican City and the museums. They have some of the most amazing artwork and tapestries we have ever seen. We had a great gelato (ice cream) store near our hotel that we found on the first night and revisited last night called Captain Cone. Sounds like a tourist trap but believe me that they don’t make ice cream that good anywhere in the US. We had some pizza shops nearby as well that served something like or pizza but more like a flat bread with fresh cheeses and veggies. Last evening we took Cody our for something to eat and he was a bit tired, but the nice gentleman in the store must have noticed and rather than serving him the flat bread variety he went in the back and made a round and very American looking pizza.

Other things that we saw in Rome were the colliseum which was amazing, and the forum which was mostly ruins and not as impressive. Because of the tour we were able to skip the lines and see a lot more than you could see on your own in a day. The Spanish steps and Trevi fountain were beautiful, but so filled with street peddlers who were quite aggressive that we were a bit on edge.

Overall we enjoyed Rome quite a bit. Off to Florence!
