PCH Day 3
We woke up to a beautiful sunny day and watched the sun rise. We were up before the restaurant opened so we walked around the property to get more views until we could have breakfast. Then we had a really good meal and headed out south along the PCH towards LA.

We headed out from Ragged Point south on the PCH towards the Elephant Seal Rookery at Piedras Blancas. The views along the way were so beautiful.

After the Seal Rookery we started off towards our next stop – Moonstone Beach. You could quite literally pull over every few minutes and take beautiful photos

Moonstone Beach Cambria was supposed to have neat tide pools and pretty rocks, but the tide must have been wrong as we did not see anything like that. Was still pretty with a nice boardwalk along the rim of the beach. Cambria is a hotel town and really the only real town between Monterey and the end of Big Sur. We walked along the boardwalk for a bit and then headed on.

After Moonstone Beach we headed towards our next stop Morro Rock and Morro Bay – it was a little bit off of the highway but a beautiful beach with lots and lots of families and people picnicking and enjoying the sun.

We really had reached the end of the PCH and were leading back towards LA so that we could get to our hotel where we would stay one more night before flying home. We decided to stop at a winery in San Luis Obispo called Chamisal Winery. We sampled some wine – and I loved the Rose so I ended up ordering some of that and then ordering it again by mail multiple times as the pandemic later locked us down at home.

We headed back to LA, stopping at a fast food restaurant to get some lunch along the way. We headed back to the same hotel that we had stayed at near LAX a few days earlier. We had a nice dinner and then went to sleep. In the morning we caught the hotel shuttle to our terminal – a ride of a few blocks, and headed home. We didn’t know it at the time but most of the US would lock down due to the Pandemic a few days after our trip and would stay that way for over a year.
