Goodbye to Grand Cayman
We got up and did our final packing and got the house cleaned up by 10 so that we could get out in time for checkout. We headed to the airport well ahead of our flight. The flight was a bit delayed and so we had several hours before it took off. Our known traveler numbers kept getting removed from our reservation – thanks American Airlines, but we did finally get through security, with Conrad T being randomly selected for extra screening which included extra screening of his carryone and then later of his checked bag. It was a pain but we had so much time it didn’t matter.
We got to Charlotte with about an hour to go between our next flights. We had to clear customs and recheck out bags which was quick and efficient. When we got to the TSA precheck line with TSA Pre-check printed on our boarding passes, all of a sudden Conrad Sr came up as not having TSA pre-check, they wouldn’t let him continue through and they wouldn’t let me go back. I had his Global Entry card with me and so he couldn’t do much but the TSA screener finally waved him over and told him “let me try one more time” and he let him through.
American had bumped me out of the row of seats where we were all sitting, but it was a short trip home, we all made our flights and everyone was at home before midnight, even with a stop at Wegmans in KofP before we dropped off Conrad and Steph.
We had a great time and a relaxing week.
