On our last full day in Key West we decided to visit a wildlife sanctuary nearby. We took a bit of a ride trying to get there because we thought it was a different place a bit farther away but we eventually found it just a short distance off of Key West. It had been somewhat damaged in the hurricane but was nice to walk around and take some pictures of the birds.

After we visited the wildlife sanctuary we decided to take our bikes down the east side of the key. We found very similar wide sidewalk/bike paths, but this time right along the ocean. We saw lots more pelicans and had beautiful views of the coast. We saw a wedding taking place along the beach and ended up back down by Duval street before heading back to the hotel.

We headed back to the hotel and got ready for dinner, we started out in the party area of Duval but wanted something more quiet so we walked down Duval to a cute little Italian place called La Trattoria Old Town. They had very few tables and a lot of reservations but they fit us in for some good pasta and a bit of wine. On the way back to the car we stopped at a little shop in the street for some Fudge and Cookies for dessert.
We then headed back to the hotel for a good night sleep before heading home early in the morning. We really enjoyed Key West. It can be done in a very short period of time, it allowed us to experience some warm weather in the middle of winter and we really loved wandering around on our bikes with no pre-determined schedule.
